Aston Villa fans have had their say following the announcement of the 'immediate' retirement of West Midlands Police Chief, Craig Guildford, this afternoon. 

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Foster, made the announcement outside the police headquarters at Lloyd House in Birmingham at 4pm, thanking the ex-police chief for his years of service.

During the announcement, Mr Foster said that in retiring, Mr Guildford had 'acted with honour' and 'in the best interest of West Midlands Police and our region'.

The retirement follows a period of controversy for the force, following inaccuracies over information leading up to the Maccabi Tel Aviv V Aston Villa match in 2025.
