Woman arrested after data breach at Walsall doctors' surgery
A woman has been arrested after a data breach was reported at a GP surgery in Walsall.
West Midlands Police has confirmed that an investigation has been launched after an incident at Croft Surgery, in Gomer Street, in Willenhall.
The unnamed woman was arrested in December on suspicion of theft in relation to the matter.
In a message to patients the practice website stated: "Croft Surgery can confirm that an unlawful data breach is currently being investigated by West Midlands Police.

"The investigation relates to patient information that may have been obtained illegally. The breach was carried out by a member of staff who is not employed directly by the surgery, this person is assisting West Midlands Police with their inquiries.
"Any patients who may have been affected will be contacted directly in due course. We appreciate that this matter may cause concern and we would like to reassure patients that protecting personal data remains a top priority."
The force said a 29-year-old woman was arrested at an address, in Walsall, on December 16 on suspicion of theft by employee.
The unnamed woman has been released on bail and the investigation is continuing.
