Peter Montroy, of Dudley, woke his victims up by setting off their house alarm on January 5, 2024, at 1.40am on Sandyacre Way, Stourbridge.

The victims headed downstairs to investigate only to find the door unlocked. The also heard voices outside before seeing their Mercedes pulling off the driveway, realising car keys had been stolen to both of their vehicles but only the one being stolen.

An investigation ensued with the Dudley Neighbourhood Crime Team later receiving another report of a burglary at an address on Oasthouse Close, Wall Heath, on April 22, 2024, shortly after midday - which was believed to be linked.

This time the 45-year-old had smashed a window with a brick to get inside before carrying out an untidy search of the bedrooms, stealing jewellery before fleeing.

Montroy was arrested on May 3, 2024 and on Thursday (Jan 8, 2026) pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and theft, and theft of motor vehicle at Wolverhampton Crown Court last and was jailed for six years and nine months.

PC Alex Griparis, who led the investigation, said: “Montroy broke into people’s safe spaces, their homes, and showed no remorse carrying out the same crime a few months later targeting another innocent family.

“Burglary is a really invasive crime that can cause long-lasting damage to people's lives, so I hope that this sentence will give each of the victims some peace that he will now serve time behind bars for his crimes.

“We take all reports of burglary seriously and will always do everything in our power to find those responsible and put them before the courts to get justice for the victims.”
