Man charged with shop theft and having a blade in Sutton Coldfield

A man has appeared at court accused of stealing and having a blade in Sutton Coldfield.

New Hall and Four Oaks neighbourhood officers from West Midlands Police responded to a man acting suspiciously at a shop on Penns Lane, shortly before 9am on Monday.

Outside the store, the officers recovered stolen items and a small blade, and detained John Mcloughlin.

Mcloughlin, from Birmingham, was arrested and subsequently charged with theft from a shop, and possession of a bladed article.

The 45-year-old was due at Birmingham Magistrates yesterday (Tuesday) and will appear before the same court at a later date.
