Suspected burglar arrested after quick action by police in Walsall

A man was arrested after a quick response to a break-in by police officers

The officers from West Midlands Police responded to reports of the break-in on Darwall Street in Walsall just after 12.15am on Thursday morning.

A crowbar was recovered and a 27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of burglary, with the force confirming he remained in custody for questioning.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We’ve arrested a man after rapidly responding to a burglary in Walsall town centre this morning (8 January).

"We were alerted to a break-in at a business in Darwall Street at around 12.15am.

"Officers were quickly on the scene and detained a man just over five minutes later.

"We recovered a crowbar and a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary. He remains in custody for questioning.

"It comes as we’re part of the national Winter of Action campaign to reduce crime and keep our high streets safe."
