Woman found guilty of violent disorder at a West Bromwich pub where a man was murdered has bail bid rejected ahead of sentencing

The woman found guilty of being involved in the violent disorder at a West Bromwich pub where Matthew Adams was murdered has failed in her bid for a last taste of freedom before being sentenced.

Nicola Stanley, 40, from Sandwell, was found guilty of violent disorder after a 10-week trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court before Christmas.

Her co-defendants Mark Shorthouse, 55; Ryan Stanley, aged 30; John Wise, aged 42; and a 16-year-old boy, all of Sandwell, were found guilty of murdering Matthew Adams.

They converged on Mr Adams outside the Gough Arms pub at 1am on Sunday, March 19, 2023. The 33-year-old died four days later after being found unresponsive in his bedroom.

After guilty verdicts were reached by the jury the defendants were all remanded in custody and are due to be sentenced on January 30 by Justice Michael Chambers KC.
