Man charged with assault and burglary offences after police called to incident in Staffordshire
A man has been charged with assault, burglary and drug offences after police were called to reports of a burglary in Brewood.
Staffordshire Police confirmed that Masood Ahmady had been arrested and charged following the incident on Saturday afternoon on Kiddemore Green Road.
The force said a man had been assaulted and taken to hospital, while another man and a woman were left with minor injuries and a police officer was also assaulted.
The 27-year-old from Dudley appeared at Newcastle-under-Lyme Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was remanded to appear at Stafford Crown Court on February 6.
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "A man has been charged after two other men and a woman were assaulted following a burglary in Brewood.
"Masood Ahmady, 27, of Dudley, has been charged with section 18 – grievous bodily harm with intent, assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, two counts of assault by beating, burglary and possession of a controlled class B drug (cannabis).
"It comes after we were called at 1.10pm on Saturday to reports of a burglary on Kiddemore Green Road.
"A man was assaulted during the burglary and was taken to hospital with a head injury, where he remains. A woman and a man were also assaulted but only suffered minor injuries.
"Following the incident, a police officer was also assaulted in custody. They remained on duty and did not suffer any injuries.
"Ahmady appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre today and has been remanded ahead of his next appearance at Stafford Crown Court on February 6.
"Officers are continuing to provide visible reassurance in the local area."
