Halesowen man accused of killing Joshua Johnson-Hector appears in court charged with manslaughter

The Halesowen man accused of killing a festive late night reveller in Birmingham has appeared in court charged with manslaughter.

Richard Deakin, from Moorfield Drive, Halesowen, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court following the death of Joshua Johnson-Hector. 

The 31-year-old died after he sustained a head injury during a fight outside Savanna restaurant and cocktail bar, Bristol Street just after 4.15am on Sunday, December 28.

The Birmingham man was taken to hospital but died on Monday afternoon. His family made an emotional appeal for more information about his death.

They said: “Joshua comes from a loving family who are devastated by his killing and untimely death.

“We are requesting that anyone who may have seen Joshua before, during or after the assault to please come forward and help us to get justice for him.

Deakin, 36, was not required to enter a plea at last Tuesday's hearing instead the the case was adjourned until January 27 at Birmingham Crown Court.

Deakin was remanded in custody by magistrates and told to stay in regular contact with his legal team.
