Two men charged over shooting in Willenhall

Two men have been charged following a shooting in Willenhall which left a man fighting for his life.

A man was found with life-threatening injuries on Wordsworth Road on the evening of December 23 and remains in hospital a week later.

Now Lee Hayes and Shane Allsop have been charged in connection with the incident.

Hayes, 50, of Willenhall, is accused of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and wounding with intent; while Allsop, 28, of Wolverhampton, is accused of perjury by making a false statement.

Both were remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday (December 31).

West Midlands Police confirmed that a 61-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed while the investigation continues.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We’ve charged two men after a shooting in Willenhall which left a man seriously injured.
