Trey Johnson, aged 30, was found with serious injuries in Burcot Avenue in the Deansfield area in the early hours of December 25 and despite the efforts of the emergency services he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His cousin Kandy Dweet has since launched an online fundraising appeal to help offset the costs of his funeral.

The GoFundMe website appeal states: "We are now faced with the unexpected expenses of laying Trey to rest and giving him the send-off he deserves.

"We were not prepared for this sudden loss and are asking for any support you can provide to help us honor Trey's memory.

"Your generous donations will go towards funeral costs and if there’s any remaining it will go towards supporting his children during this incredibly difficult time."

Mr Johnson was born in Jamaica and moved here with his mother as a youngster.

Paying tribute to his memory his family said: "Trey is a loving sibling, loving father, a loving partner and caring soul - a person who would do anything for anyone. His smile, his love and his energy are infectious and would brighten up the room when he walks into it.

"He was a loving father of two. He was a good man, a good son, who did everything and more for his family.

"We as a family are very proud of Trey, and he will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him."
