All of the seven drivers who ended Christmas Eve without a car after being pulled over by the RCT had their Christmases ruined.

The team are prolific on social media warning drivers to get their papers if in order before hitting the road.

The Road Crime Team X account has nearly 60,000 followers with many egging on officers to clampdown on uninsured drivers in the county.

It does not matter if it is Christmas Eve, your birthday or if you are on the way to pick up an award for wonderful driving, if the vehicle is uninsured officers will impound it.

And then plaster a picture of the departing car on social media. However, this festive season the cops relentless shaming of newly car-less motorists was branded 'Grinchy'.

An Audi driver who stopped at the services today (Saturday) on the M6 for a coffee was left needing a stiff drink after their car was seized.

The RCT team tweeted: "M6 J11 to J10a stop check on an Audi A5.  Insurance expired a couple of months ago and driver forgot to renew policy.

"Audi seized and driver reported. Please check all your documents are in order before driving."

The team use their catchphrase every time a motorist is left without their wheels due to trying to pull a fast one driving uninsured - "Insure it or lose it - it's that simple".

On Christmas Eve the team stopped seven drivers going on their merry way after working overtime to keep the roads of Staffordshire safe.

However, not everyone was cheering on the boys in blue this festive period. One Twitter user complained: "I don't know why these keep on coming on my timeline, my impression is they are a bunch of grinches."

'Bah Humbug' was another reply, whilst another social media user sardonically complained 'so my taxes are now paying police to be comedians and fiddle around with Photoshop'.

The account has started added humorous pictures to the cars they impound, but they always hide the number plate so the motorists cannot be tracked down by the public.

The officers were crowing about banging up a wanted male until Boxing Day on Christmas Eve.[

The team tweeted: "On the 24th day of Christmas  Road Crime Team said to me, One wanted male (x6), One No Insurance, One Seized Car and a cell for  until after Boxing Day! This driver thought he could hide but not today Another hazard off the road."

The team warned motorists they could end the day without their car on Christmas Eve.

"It might be Christmas Eve but we won’t be letting up on taking away cars from those who continue to drive illegally.

"This one #Seized in #Stafford…apparently the driver was “still searching for insurance” Need to look harder we think."
