Wolverhampton stabbing: Victim named locally and tributes left at scene of Christmas Day murder as investigation continues

A man who died on Christmas Day after being stabbed in Wolverhampton has been named on social media.

While the 30-year-old man has not been named by police, he was named locally on Facebook as "Trey", with tributes being paid on the social media site.

One tribute said: "He was a good lad, Trey, with two young kids and one on the way.

"I saw him Christmas Eve and he was looking forward to Christmas and in a very upbeat mood. I'm gonna miss ya man."

Floral tributes have also been left at the scene on Burcot Avenue, Wolverhampton.

Emergency services rushed to scene just after 3.30am on Christmas Day, after reports that a 30-year-old man had been stabbed, but despite the efforts of emergency services crews, the man was declared dead at the scene.

Two men, aged 35 and 58, have been arrested on suspicion of the murder, with police spending the majority of Christmas afternoon holding enquiries around the area, and offering reassurances to residents.

West Midlands Police are continuing to appeal for information on the Christmas Day killing, asking anyone with information to contact them directly.

A force spokesperson said: "We are in the early stages of our investigation and carrying out quick-time enquiries, including forensic examination, reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses.

"We ask anyone who may have any information about what happened to contact us.
