Man arrested after Christmas Eve knifepoint robbery in Birmingham

A man has been arrested following a knifepoint robbery in Birmingham city centre in the early hours of Christmas Eve.

West Midlands Police said officers were called to Lower Trinity Street, Birmingham at around 1.30am after reports that a woman had been threatened and her mobile phone stolen.

Police responded swiftly and, following rapid enquiries, traced a suspect to Whitmore Road. 

The stolen phone was recovered, and a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

He remains in custody for questioning.
