Dudley community activist who once visited Downing Street is sentenced after admitting to child sex offence

A former Dudley community activist who once met Gordon Brown in Downing Street has been given a suspended sentence after admitting a child sex offence.

Stephen Briscoe, aged 60, appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on November 15 after earlier admitting a charge of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

The offence took place between between December 16, 2023 and January 20, 2024.  

He was jailed for ten months suspended for two years, ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work, fined £272 and made the subject of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
