Police issue message of support for Jewish communities across the West Midlands after Bondi Beach terrorist attack
West Midlands Police have put out a message of support and reassurance to Jewish communities across the region following the attack at Bondi Beach on Sunday.
The force has put out the message to the community, saying it had increased patrols around Hanukkah events and was speaking with community representatives to offer support and reassurance.
The message comes following the attack at Bondi Beach, near Sydney, which saw 15 people killed when two gunmen targeted Jewish people attending a Hanukkah event, with the victims including a 10-year-old girl, a British-born rabbi, a retired police officer, and a Holocaust survivor.
The message from the force read: "After the appalling scenes which unfolded at the Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach on the weekend, we have been in touch with Jewish communities across the West Midlands.
"We know that what should be a time of celebration for Jewish people has now become a time of grief and anger.

"In the aftermath of the terror attack, we have been speaking with Jewish community representatives around the West Midlands to offer our support and reassurance at a deeply troubling time for them.
"With many Hanukkah events taking place around the region over the coming days, we have increased our patrols in the communities most affected.
"Our officers are in touch with event organisers to offer safety advice and listen to their concerns.
"We will continue to work tirelessly to make the West Midlands a safe place for people from all communities."
