'Dangerous' Birmingham drugs dealer who hid a gun in a sock is jailed
A man has been jailed after hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of Class A drugs and firearms - one of which was stuffed in a sock - were found at an address in Birmingham.
Joshua McCaffrey was jailed on Thursday after admitting offences when officers carried out a raid under Operation Target.
On January 9 this year, officers from West Midlands Police's County Lines Taskforce carried out a warrant at an address in Brinklow Tower, Highgate, where they found a revolver, a 9mm pistol, and over 30 rounds of ammunition.

Officers from the specialist team also seized over ten kilos of heroin, over two kilos of cocaine, and over 44 grams of crack cocaine - with the drugs estimated to be worth up to £300,000 in wholesale value.

McCaffrey was arrested from the address and charged with multiple offences.

The 33-year-old initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine; possession with intent to supply heroin; possession of firearms; possession of ammunition; being concerned in the supply of cocaine and being concerned in the supply of heroin.

McCaffrey, of Highgate Street, Birmingham, was jailed for 12 years on Thursday at Birmingham Crown Court.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Following a thorough investigation, we were able to identify McCaffrey as a dangerous drug dealer who was also in possession of firearms.
"McCaffrey was clearly a dangerous individual, who has been taken off the streets and will be spending a long time behind bars.
“We know County Lines networks cause misery within our communities as drugs not only ruin lives but also fuel other crime. We’re working day in, day out, to bring down drug lines.”
"We work 24/7 as part of Operation Target to identify criminals involved in serious organised crime and bring them to justice, while preventing people from falling victim to some of their traumatic or harmful crimes."
