Gun, knives and drugs seized in Birmingham after scooter rider was stopped and searched

Gun, knives and drugs were seized after an e-scooter rider was spoken to by officers in a Birmingham street.

West Midlands Police said officers recovered a homemade gun along with a zombie knife and a machete following a routine stop and search in Soho Road in Handsworth, Birmingham, on December 11.

Officers from Operation Fearless were on e-bike patrols when they became suspicious of the 19-year-old who was standing near the Barn Lane junction.

They searched the man and he was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

During a subsequent search of an address in nearby Cranbrook Road a 'slam gun' which is a homemade weapon capable of firing projectiles, and the two blades were allegedly found.

Jamil Al-Jamil has since been charged with offences of  possession of a firearm, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and possession of an offensive  weapon 

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Birmingham magistrates on December 13.
