A teenager is set to appear in court after being charged with theft, assault and drug offences.

Dylan Glyptis from Dudley will appear at the town's magistrates court in January after being charged with attempted theft, assault, possession of a Class B drug, and motoring offences.

The 18-year-old was arrested after officers from West Midlands Police were called to reports of attempts to steal a moped from an industrial estate in Kingswinford, with a member of the public assaulted as they tried to intervene.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We've charged a teenager with attempted theft, assault and possession of cannabis in Kingswinford.

"We were called to reports of attempts to steal a moped at an industrial estate off Third Avenue yesterday morning (December 11).

"A member of the public was assaulted as they tried to intervene.

"An 18-year-old man was arrested by officers and has now been charged with a number of offences.

"Dylan Glyptis, from Dudley, has been charged with attempted theft, assault, possession of a Class B drug, and motoring offences.

"He is due to appear before Dudley Magistrates Court on January 8.
