Members of the public help detain teenager who allegedly tried to steal moped in Kingswinford
A teenager was arrested on suspicion of assault and trying to steal a moped following an incident on a Kingswinford trading estate.
West Midlands Police officers were called to the Pensnett Trading Estate on Thursday morning (December 11) following reports of an attempted theft.
An 18-year-old man was detained by members of the public, with one being assaulted in the process, and the teenager was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted theft of a motor vehicle, assault and possession of cannabis.
The force said the man is currently in custody for questioning while enquiries continue.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of trying to steal a moped from an industrial estate in Dudley this morning (December 11).
"We were called to Pensnett Trading Estate on Third Avenue in Kingswinford following reports of an attempted theft at around 11.30am.
"Members of the public had helped detain a man, and in the process one person was assaulted.
"An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted theft of a motor vehicle, assault and possession of cannabis. He is currently in custody for questioning.
"We understand there were a number of people in the area at the time who may have information, and mobile footage, which could assist our enquiries.
