Last week West Midlands Police issued a section 35 dispersal order around the areas of Stephenson Square and Stephenson Avenue in Beechdale in Walsall following a series of incidents.

The force said a communal front door at flats in Stephenson Square has been removed due to criminal damage and there has been graffiti painted on the walls.  It also said there has also been incidents of shop thefts and drugs use and other anti-social behaviour reported in the vicinity.

PC Paul Benton, from the force's Problem Solving and Priorities Team, said: “We are working closely with our partners to tackle the issues of crime and anti-social behaviour.

“We understand how concerned the community is but we can assure them we are working closely with Walsall Council and housing providers including Amplius to tackle these issues. This kind of behaviour simply won’t be tolerated.”

Walsall's communities chief Councillor Adam Hicken said: “I want to reassure residents that we are taking this extremely seriously. The actions taken this week demonstrate the strength of our partnership working between Walsall Council, West Midlands Police, and our local housing providers, including Amplius.

“By working together, we can take firm action against those causing harm and ensure the right support and interventions are in place to protect and restore our communities. We are committed to continuing this joint effort until residents see a lasting improvement.”
