Appeal launched to identify two women after distraction burglary in Smethwick

An appeal has been launched after jewellery was stolen from a house in what was believed to be a distraction burglary.

West Midlands Police have released an image of two women it said it wants to speak to following the incident on October 11 in Smethwick.

The force said the incident happened between 3.10pm and 4.13pm on Millpool Way and has asked for anyone with any information to get in touch as soon as possible.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Do you recognise these two women?

"We want to speak to them after a distraction burglary in Millpool Way in Smethwick. It happened between 3.10pm and 4.13pm on 11 October.

"Jewellery was stolen from an address. If you recognise them please call 101 quoting 20/406822/25.

"Distraction burglars pretend to be someone they are not in order to gain entry to your home.

"There are a number of things you can do to prevent distraction burglary. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about anyone at your door – genuine callers won’t mind. Always remember 'if in doubt, keep them out'."
