West Midlands Police said officers had been reviewing hundreds of hours of CCTV footage from around the area in Oldbury where the incident happened on September 9.

The force also said that people had been identified from the footage and dozens of pieces of evidence had been recovered and examined from the scene, as well as witness appeals, door-to-door enquiries and visits to the scene.

Three people had been arrested and subsequently bailed following the incident, which left the woman with facial injuries and a community in shock and West Midlands Police said it was helping to support the woman and the community.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "The woman was walking along Tame Road towards the motorway when she was dragged to grassland.

"She called a family member, who contacted the police and went to the victim.

"The victim sustained injuries, mainly facial injuries, thankfully not serious. She did attend hospital as a precautionary measure.

"We have reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage from around the location.

"We have identified a number of people from CCTV footage in the area who have been spoken with and eliminated from the investigation.

"We have recovered dozens of pieces of evidence that are being forensically examined and we await the final results.

"We have also conducted witness appeals, house to house enquiries and anniversary visits to the scene to gather any information from possible witnesses.

"Three people remain on bail - two men, aged 31 and 49, and a 65-year-old woman.

"The victim, as with every investigation, has been at the heart of our enquiries and we will continue to provide her with appropriate support.

"We have held vital meetings with community leaders and other partners to listen to their concerns."
