Watch: See the moment gunman jailed for 24 years is discovered by police on rooftops in Wolverhampton
A video has shown the dramatic moment a gunman was arrested by armed police after fleeing onto rooftops in an attempt to escape them.
The video released by West Midlands Police shows the moment Kieran Thomas was arrested, with bodycam footage from one of the armed officers from West Midlands Police showing the 27-year-old putting his hands up on top of a roof.
In the video, CCTV is played to show the moment on August 27 where Thomas was seen riding a bike near Phoenix Park in Wolverhampton, with a clear sound of a shot being fired heard on camera.
It also shows drone footage of the moment an address was raided by armed police and Thomas attempted to flee, only to be caught and arrested.
On searching the gardens, a balaclava was also recovered along with a glove, both of which contained a shotgun cartridge, while a further 27 cartridges were also seized from the address.

Thomas, of Elizabeth Avenue in Wolverhampton, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and possessing a firearm with intent at a hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court last month and on Friday (21 Nov) he was jailed for 24 years.
Detective Inspector Francis Nock, from the Major Crime Team, said: "Within two weeks, we'd scoured CCTV footage and alongside mobile phone data, identified Thomas as the gunman.
“Firearms officers went to arrest him in Wolverhampton and he tried to flee across gardens, but was quickly tracked down and detained.
"The body of evidence we presented at court was so strong he admitted the crime and was convicted six weeks to the day after his violent attack.
"Now Thomas has been jailed and he has become another example of how we are committed to removing from our communities those who think it is acceptable to use firearms and violence."
