The patrols on November 18 saw officers from the Stafford local policing team (LPT), the road harm prevention team (RHT) and Stafford Council representatives raise awareness around the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in the area.

Cyclists are not allowed to ride in Market Square, or on Greengate Street and Gaolgate Street, and several people on bicycles were stopped and given advice.

Two e-scooters were seized by officers, while one person was reported for riding a moped with no licence.

Four TPOs were issued for various reasons, including drivers and passengers not wearing seatbelts and a driver not being in proper control of a vehicle near the town centre.

PC Dan Sambrook, from the RHT, said: “Officers were visible in the town centre advising and enforcing the PSPO conditions and ensuring the safety of drivers and their passengers.

“It was also encouraging to see our teams approached by several members of the community.

"Having officers patrolling hotspot locations like this helps the public report their concerns more easily and helps us to take action.”
