The driver, who was pulled over travelling northbound, was found to have been using cloned plates to avoid being caught driving without a licence or insurance.

Ironically, the silver Ford they were driving was brandished with bumper stickers that said: "Don't follow me, I'm lost too" and "If you can read this, I'm in trouble."

Officers from Staffordshire Police's Road Crime Team couldn't resist making a witty response on X, formerly known as Twitter, writing: "'Yes, we can read it & and yes, they are in trouble.

"Cloned to hide the fact that the driver had no licence or insurance. Boxed M6 NB."

The vehicle was seized as part of Operation Lightning - a  dedicated operation focusing on road safety, helping to make Staffordshire's roads safer.

It aims to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on the roads and to disrupt and deter criminals from using the road network.
