Neighbourhood officers attempted to stop a Volvo being driven by Mohammed Chowdhury, aged 27, in Windsor Road in Parkfields in Wolverhampton on November 9, but he failed to stop and crashed into the wall in Myrtle Street a short time later.

He fled but the team made inquiries leading them to arrest Chowdhury in Smethwick the following afternoon and he was charged with driving whilst disqualified, criminal damage, failing to stop for police, and driving without insurance.

On November 12 the 27-year-old pleaded guilty to the offences at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court where he was jailed for  four and half months.

Sgt Marc Buller, from West Midlands Police's Ettingshall, Blakenhall and Springvale Neighbourhood Team, said: "We know that road safety is an important issue for our residents and it great for us as local officers to be able to do our part to get an offender like this off the streets."
