Man arrested after quick response to Birmingham break-in at coffee shop
A man was arrested in the early hours of the morning after police officers responded to reports of a break-in at a Birmingham coffee shop.
Officers from West Midlands Police arrived at the scene after an alarm was triggered on Friday morning, with a search of the area finding a man nearby, as well as a glass break hammer and Class-B drugs.
The 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, going equipped, and possession of a Class B drug.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man's been arrested after we responded quickly to reports of a break-in at a coffee shop in Birmingham city centre.
"We were called to the store on New Street after an alarm was triggered around 4am this morning.
"City centre officers were given a description of the suspect, and following immediate enquiries, located a man nearby.
"Following a search, a glass break hammer and a quantity of Class-B drugs was found.
"A man, aged 44, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, going equipped, and possession of a Class B drug.
"He remains in police custody this morning."
