Surita Tamber met her victim at BT Telecom in 2014 and soon began claiming she was in danger due to domestic violence.

Over the next ten years the woman lent her so much money that Tamber sniffed so much cocaine and will now undergo an operation on her nose in prison.

Tamber, who pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation in January, successfully delayed a sentencing hearing six times until the Crown's patience ran out on Friday.

District Judge Ian Strongman jailed Tamber, from Cannock Road, Wolverhampton, for four years and ordered a Proceeds of Crime hearing which could see her future pension being given to her former friend.

The traumatised victim told Wolverhampton Crown Court how Tamber's demands for cash ruined her life and left her in debt.

She said: "I feel so stupid. I am so embarrassed. Looking back I see she was such a pervasive presence in my life. This has wrecked relationships in my life, she heard me crying on the phone telling her I had to borrow money from my sister and all she wanted to know was how much she could borrow.
