The incident saw a Black Hyundai drive down Vicarage Street multiple times before coming to a stop outside the targeted house.

The driver, identified as Asaan Hussain, from Edgbaston Road, Birmingham, then exited the vehicle before firing the two shots.

A mother and two sisters were at the address at the time of the shooting.

An investigation was launched into the incident, with West Midlands Police quickly identifying Hussain as the shooter.

CCTV footage revealed that shortly before the shooting, Hussain had called a taxi to Vicarage Street, before driving the Hyundai and firing the shots at the address.

He later met Khan, from Navigation Road, Birmingham, near Sandwell Valley Country Park, and they later fled to Wales.

The pair were later arrested at their home address in the West Midlands.

During a search of Khan's address, they discovered a self-loading pistol with live ammunition hiding in a suitcase under her bed.

Khan was charged with assisting an offender and possession of a firearm, while Hussain was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

They both denied the offences at an earlier hearing, but were found guilty following a trial held at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Hussain was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with Khan being sentenced to five years and six months.

Detective Sergeant Lucy Mooney, from the force's Major Crime Unit, said: "It’s miraculous no one was injured as a result of the dangerous actions of Hussain.

“This was a planned attack. Hussain had set up his mode of transport away from the scene and surveyed the area before firing the shotgun.

“Khan helped Hussain after the shooting and was even found in possession of an unrelated gun.

“We are determined to take firearms off our streets and put dangerous offenders behind bars."
