Investigations continuing into death of man in Wolverhampton park following attack

Work is still ongoing into a murder investigation around a Wolverhampton park two days after a man died following an attack.

The investigation was launched on Wednesday following the death of a man in his 20s, who was found seriously injured in the early hours and died shortly after.

West Midlands Police said it believed the man was attacked in a car park off Dudley Road near Phoenix Park in Blakenhall and officers are treating his death as a murder and a full cordon was set up around the park throughout Wednesday as forensic teams worked at the scene.

The force has asked for anyone with information that could help the investigation to get in touch as soon as possible.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said at the time: "We’ve started a murder investigation after a man has tragically died after being attacked in Wolverhampton.

"We were alerted to a man in his 20s being taken to hospital with serious injuries at around 1.30am today (October 22).

"Sadly, he was confirmed dead a short time later and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this deeply distressing time.

"Following prompt enquiries we now believe he was attacked on a car park off Dudley Road.

"We’re in the early stages of our investigation and a scene remains in place there while we carry out CCTV, house-to-house and other enquiries in the area.

"There will be an increased police presence in the area as we seek to establish exactly what happened and offer reassurance to the community.
