'I do not believe staff should benefit from residents' wills', Brierley Hill care home co-owner accused of fraud tells jury
A care home co-owner accused of defrauding a vulnerable resident has denied knowledge of being made executor of the pensioner's will.
Lyn Walker took to the witness stand in her defence in the trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday).
The 71-year-old denied helping draft the will of resident Rita Barnsley, aged 85, to benefit her and former manager Jamiel Slaney-Summers.
She said: "I did not see the will being made up. As soon as I heard about it I thought it was wrong. A care home's staff should not benefit from residents' wills.
"When I was told I was executor I said I did not want to do that either."
