Yob jailed for battering ex-partner and crashing into driver after overtaking off-duty cop at 80mph in Stourbridge
A violent yob has been jailed for battering his ex-partner and crashing into a driver in Stourbridge whilst driving on the wrong side of the road at 80mph.
Ryan Thompson, of Station Road, Brierley Hill, ploughed into a motorist whilst driving on the wrong side of the road in Stourbridge in December 2023.
The 32-year-old had overtaken an-off duty police officer before shunting the female driver, whose car span across the road. The off-duty police officer tried to arrest Thompson who was acting "odd" and told him "they were trying to get me", Wolverhampton Crown Court heard. However, Thompson freed himself after a struggle and escaped.
He was subsequently arrested after returning to retrieve cannabis worth £150 from his wrecked car.
Appearing via video link from prison Thompson was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court for dangerous driving and for viciously assaulting his ex-partner breaking a restraining order.
