West Bromwich murder trial: 'It felt like being hit by a ton of bricks when Matthew Adams headbutted me'
A second man accused of murdering Matthew Adams has told a jury he 'had no idea why he was headbutted' during a pub fight.
John Wise who is accused of murdering Mr Adams followed co-defendant Mark Shorthouse onto the witness stand to give evidence in his defence at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Wise, Shorthouse and two others battered Mr Adams inside and outside the Gough Arms in West Bromwich on March 19, 2023. He died four days later after refusing to visit hospital after complaining of pains in his chest.
Shorthouse described Mr Adams as having "super natural strength" for not staying down as the mob repeatedly kicked and punched him.
Wise said Mr Adams attacked him first and it felt like "a gorilla was on top of me."
