The team posted last night (Saturday): "This morning (18/10), officers responded to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a hedge.

"It was discovered that the driver was intoxicated, resulting in his arrest. He failed to provide an evidential sample, and will soon appear in court. #dontdrinkanddrive."

St Matthew's Neighbourhood Policing Team have concentrated on kerbing traffic problems in the ward.

Earlier this week officers set up a temporary speed trap and caught motorists red-handed.

They posted: "Officers have conducted a community speed watch on Birmingham Rd Walsall, due to community concerns. 221 vehicles were registered, out of 3 vehicles were driving at excess speed which will receive a warning notice.

"Remember speed kills always be cautious."
