Officers were shocked to catch a speeding driver every 40 seconds as 50 motorists were clocked above 70mph.

The team tweeted: "Today we have completed speed enforcement on the @M6tollRoad.

"The speed limit is 70mph. 50 drivers have been processed in a period of 30 minutes. This is a site which we will revisit until we see a reduction in the amount of drivers exceeding the speed limit."

Car drivers have to pay £8.40 for using the M6 Toll from junction one to seven. The minimum fine for speeding on a motorway is £100.

The Birmingham Northern Relief Road, also known as the M6 Toll, is the UK's only toll road and is 27 miles between M6 Junction 3a Coleshill to M6 Junction 11A at Wolverhampton

Despite opening in December 2023 to relieve the constant congestion on the M6 the numbers of drivers who opt to splash the cash have been lower than expected.
