Five arrests and seven vehicles seized during police crackdown on drivers flouting the law in Walsall
Police in Walsall targeted drivers this week in a show of force with other agencies.
Police took action against drivers flouting the law as they carried out a Multi-Agency Road Safety Operation (MARSO) in Walsall.
These operations are led by West Midlands Police's dedicated Road Harm Prevention Team within the Roads Policing Unit and bring together a wide range of partners who all share the same goal – keeping the region’s roads safe.
The team carried out a MARSO at Sneyd Community Association, on Vernon Way, Bloxwich on Tuesday as part of #OpAdvance.
Extra police resources were in place across the borough during the day for #OpAdvance as they delivered 24 hours of intensive policing.

#OpAdvance is a force-wide operation which takes place regularly across the seven local policing areas across the West Midlands. Neighbourhood officers from Walsall with support from Dudley and Birmingham teams took part in the MARSO along with Roads Policing Unit officers.
Partners on the day included representatives from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, (DVLA), DataTag and both Walsall Council and Wolverhampton Council’s licencing teams.
During the operation police made five arrests, three for immigration issues and two for theft of motor vehicles.
In total 16 drivers were reported for a total of 24 offences which included no insurance, number plate offences, defective handbrakes, defective tyres and excess weight.
Seven vehicles were seized with seven prohibitions issued by the DVSA and six referrals made by the DVLA.
During the operation police officers also offered advice to motorists on how to stay within the law.
Sgt Jay Bradburn, from Bloxwich Police, said: “We understand that road safety is a real concern for residents, and days like these are a key part of our commitment to keeping everyone safe.
"We had some really good results on the day including arrests and vehicle seizures. It is also an opportunity to educate people around road safety."
He added: “Through MARSOs, we join forces with our partners to share expertise, resources and responsibility enabling us to tackle dangerous driving behaviour and make the streets safer for everyone."
