Mother of nightclub murderer gets suspended sentence for trying to help her son fly to Jamaica to escape justice

The mother of one of Cody Fisher’s killers has avoided jail for trying to help her son flee justice in the aftermath of the murder.

Jahzeen Carpenter was on Wednesday (October 15) given a two-year suspended sentence for assisting an offender, having been found guilty by a jury.

She drove to London with her son Kami a day after he had fatally stabbed promising footballer Mr Fisher to death at the Crane nightclub in Digbeth, Birmingham, late in the evening on Boxing Day, 2022.

The pair arrived in the capital on the evening of December 27 in her Mercedes convertible and were caught by police on the way to an airport.

Kami Carpenter had bags full of cash as well as clothes packed for him by his mother. Accommodation in Spanish Town, Jamaica, had been arranged for him.
