Father and son charged with kidnapping after teenage girl was forced into a car in Birmingham

West Midlands Police have charged two men with kidnap after a teenage girl was forced into a car on Ladypool Road in Birmingham.

Mohammed Ali, aged 49, and his son Luqman Ali, 20, have been remanded in custody to appear before Birmingham magistrates on Monday, October 13.

Mohammed Ali is also accused of false imprisonment and assault.

Police said they had discovered a significant amount of cannabis.

It follows an incident on the Ladypool Road on Saturday, October 11 at around 4pm where the teenager was forced into a car.

The car was prevented from driving away by a number of passers-by, and the girl managed to escape from the vehicle and into a nearby shop.

The suspects were quickly arrested at the scene, and the teenage girl is now being spoken to by specialist officers.

A statement from West Midlands Police read: "We are aware of misinformation circulating about the incident, and so we are confirming that the suspects and victim are of British Asian heritage.

"Our investigation continues and anyone with information, mobile phone or dash cam footage, has been asked to get in touch via 101, quoting 20/406171/25."
