Damian Groves had only been out of jail two weeks when he took the woman's car on March 1 this year, a court heard.

Groves, aged 27, had left prison on licence a fortnight earlier, having served a 46-month sentence for selling heroin and crack cocaine.

Mr Pat Kelly, prosecuting, told Shrewsbury Crown Court, sitting at Telford Justice Centre on Friday (October 10), that the woman had been defrosting her VW Corsa on Alexandra Street, Dudley at 6.05am.

He said Groves, from Winson Green but of no fixed abode, grabbed the woman as she reached into the car to retrieve a bottle of water.

He then jumped in the car and drove off.
