Man arrested in Walsall after police officers threatened with firearm

A man was arrested after a gun was pointed at police officers on a Walsall street.

The incident happened on Wednesday at around 5pm on Kelvin Road and saw officers threatened with a gun, before the suspect fled the scene.

West Midlands Police said an investigation was launched to locate the 37-year-old man, who was detained in Bloxwich at 12.30pm on Friday and arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man has been arrested after our officers were threatened with a firearm.

"Officers were on Kelvin Road in Walsall, attempting to arrest a wanted man at around 5pm on Wednesday, when a suspect pointed a gun at them before fleeing.

"An investigation was launched to locate the man, and at around 12.30pm today, the suspect was detained at an address in Abingdon Way in Bloxwich.

"The 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

"He remains in custody for questioning."
