Stop and search powers extended in Wolverhampton again following shooting deaths in Whitmore Reans
Police in parts of Wolverhampton have been given extra powers to stop and search people more than a week after a shooting incident which left two men dead.
West Midlands Police said it had extended the use of Section 60 powers in parts of Whitmore Reans and Low Hill across Saturday evening and into Sunday morning.
The powers, which allow officers to stop and search people with the need to have reasonable grounds, were put in place on Friday night following the incident on Leicester Street on Friday, September 19.
The shooting happened in the early hours and saw Duaine Mills die at the scene and Syed Zain Ali pass away in hospital on Wednesday.
The force said the powers were in place to keep people safe and offer a visible presence in the area to reassure the local community.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We've extended the use of Section 60 powers in parts of Whitmore Reans and Low Hill from this evening.
"This allows us to stop and search people without the need to have reasonable grounds and follows a shooting last Friday in which two men have tragically died.
"Duaine Mills was pronounced dead at the scene in Leicester Street following the fatal attack at around 3.10am and Syed Zain Ali, passed away in hospital on Wednesday.
"They will be in place in the area on the map, from 6pm today (Saturday) until 2am tomorrow morning (Sunday).
