Grandfather high on cocaine left Staffordshire couple 'terrified' after trying to smash his way into their conservatory before three-hour stand off with police on the roof
A grandfather high on cocaine left residents in a Staffordhire neighbourhood terrified after spending three hours jumping from conservatory roof to roof.
On June 14, 2023, David Cox, aged 54, clambered onto a conservatory roof on Peasant Way in Cannock whilst the homeowner was inside.
Cox, of Dartmouth Street, Cannock then began stamping on the glass roof, ripping off a part of the apex plastering and began smashing the windows with that.
The scared couple inside called Staffordshire Police. When officers arrived they advised the residents to leave the property as they began negotiating with Cox to return to earth from the roof. He then jumped to the neighbouring conservatory, causing £5,000 damage.

Cox pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage and was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court.
