West Midlands Police has been granted enhanced stop-and-search powers in Whitmore Reans after a man was shot dead in the area.

Officers were called to Leicester Street, Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton just after 3am today (Friday) to reports of shots being fired

Two men were found seriously injured in a vehicle.

A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man was taken to hospital and remains in a life-threatening condition. 

The powers will be in place in the area on the map, from 7pm today (Friday) until 8am tomorrow morning (Saturday)

Section 60 powers allow officers to stop and search people without "reasonable grounds". 

There will be an increased presence in the area to offer reassurance to the local community.
