The money, publicised through the Sikh Federation UK, has been offered as a reward for information that leads to the arrest and "successful conviction" of the perpetrator of the attack last week.

A woman in her 20s was raped between 8am and 8.30am on September 9, in the Tame Road area of Oldbury

The victim, a British-born Sikh, told West Midlands Police that "racist remarks" were made towards her during the assault. The perpetrators allegedly told the woman “you don’t belong in this country, get out” as they sexually assaulted her.

A man in his 30s who was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of rape has been released on bail pending further inquiries, West Midlands Police said on Wednesday (September 17).

Now the Sikh community has offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved.

The Sikh Federation UK appealed on X: "The Sikh community has, in response to the man being arrested on suspicion of rape being bailed without charge... put out its own appeal, and put up a reward of £10,000 for information leading to the arrest and successful conviction of the two men involved.

"Sikh media are also carrying the appeal and information about the reward on community television."

West Midlands Police earlier said the investigation is continuing "at pace" and that officers have trawled through hundreds of hours of CCTV footage.

The force also reappealed for anyone with information on two white men who were in the area between 8am and 8.30am to come forward.

The first man is reported to have had a shaved head, a heavy build, and was wearing gloves and a dark-coloured sweatshirt, while the second man was described as wearing a grey top with a silver zip.

Chief Superintendent Kim Madill said: "This is a key time for people going to work or school, and we need your help if you saw anything that may assist our enquiries.

“The victim, a young woman in her 20s, is at the heart of our enquiries and we continue to support her and keep her updated on developments."

Anyone with information relating to the attack can contact West Midlands Police on 101, quoting log number 798 of September 9.
