Second arrest made after man injured in stabbing near Great Barr

A second man has been arrested after a man was seriously hurt after being stabbed in Hamstead near Great Barr.

The incident happened in Middlemist Grove in Hamstead at around 1.45am on August 30(sat) resulting in West Midlands Police launching an investigation.

The force said a man, aged 20, is currently in custody and is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.

The incident relates to a man, aged in his 20s, turning up at an undisclosed hospital where he remains in a critical condition.  

Another man aged 18, who was initially arrested following the incident has since been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

The force said: "Our investigation is progressing and officers have remained at the scen, and we are continuing to offer reassurance to local residents.

"Detectives are examining CCTV from around the area and we are asking anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage who has not yet spoken to us, to please get in touch."
