Dangerous paedophile jailed after leaving court dock 'upset' when forced to listen to his own vile grooming messages
A dangerous paedophile was jailed in his absence after demanding to leave the dock when his own messages arranging to meet what he thought was a boy in a doughnut shop were read out in court.

Despite being the subject of a lifetime sexual harm prevention order for previous offences, Brian Rogers tried to lure what he thought was a young boy for 'cuddles' at a Tim Hortons restaurant at the Bentley Bridge Leisure Park in Wolverhampton.
The 66-year-old was being sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday (August 27) when he became "upset" listening to the grooming messages he sent to an account, which was actually a police officer pretending to be a 14-year-old boy.
Judge Jonathan Gosling KC responded to the defendant's gesticulating and waving as each vile message was read out in public. He asked Robert Cowley, defending: "Does your client want be sent down? It makes no difference to me, I will sentence in his absence."
Mr Cowley spoke to Rogers and confirmed he wanted to "leave the courtroom as he [was] getting upset listening to the evidence".

Rogers was led away to the cells as the court continued to hear details about his 67 convictions spanning 35 years and several spells behind bars for abusing children.
He had already pleaded guilty to breaking the conditions of his lifetime sexual harm prevention order, attempting to engage a child in sexual activity, engaging in sexual communication with a child, and making indecent images of children.
