Dudley police charge suspects after 25 burglary and vehicle crimes in a month
Police have charged suspects in connection with 25 separate burglary and vehicle crime offences in August across Dudley.
The work by the Dudley Priority Crime Team at West Midlands Police has helped to identify and arrest people on suspicion of theft offences, with West Midlands Police saying it had helped to reduce burglaries by 40 per cent and vehicle crimes by 20 per cent.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We know how upsetting, and often frightening, it can be to have someone break-in and steal personal and sometimes sentimental belongings from your own home.
"We also understand the huge inconvenience of having your vehicle taken as it can impact on livelihoods, daily routines and upcoming plans.
"These crimes can regularly be interlinked and our Dudley Priority Crime Team carry out focussed work to identify and arrest those responsible for such offences.
"The team have acted on information and carried out targeted operations, with the support of other units, alongside other detailed investigation work."
Inspector Steve Crowe, of the Dudley Priority Crime Team, said: "We know these types of crimes cause a significant impact on our communities.
"The thought of someone being in your home and stealing your car keys, and other personal items, is understandably very distressing.
"We're continually taking action to catch those responsible and help ensure they receive jail terms through the courts.
"We've been able to significantly reduce such offences but this work is very much ongoing as one crime, is one crime too many."
