The officers from the Project Guardian Taskforce were carrying out patrols across Selly Oak on Tuesday when they made four arrests.

After stopping a vehicle believed to be linked to drug dealing in Raddlebarn Road, searches were carried out, where a baseball bat was seized along with dozens of wraps of Class A drugs.

A man and a woman, both aged 25, were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, and possession of an offensive weapon.

Guardian officers then spotted another vehicle linked to drug dealing in the area later in the evening, which was stopped in Bristol Road.

Following searches, officers found 100 wraps of Class A drugs along with mobile phones believed to be used for drug dealing and two men, aged 26 and 28 were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence.

"There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime in under 25-year-olds, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols.
