Man and woman appear in court of robbery charges after shop worker assaulted in Tipton
A man and a woman have appeared in court after being charged with multiple offences including assault and robbery following an incident in Tipton.
Both Audrey Evans and Shane Stanton appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Monday after being charged with multiple offences linked to reports of a robbery in Tipton on Saturday.
West Midlands Police said the incident happened on Unity Walk just before 4.55pm with two people reported to be filling baskets and attempting to leave the store.
The force also said a shop worker was reported to have been punched in the face and left with bruising.
Evans, 25, of Massbrook Grove, Wolverhampton, was charged with assault by beating, two counts of robbery, and two counts of theft from a shop and was released on conditional bail to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on September 15.
Stanton, 39, of no fixed address, was also charged with two counts of robbery and was remanded in custody to also appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on September 15.
