Man arrested on suspicion of drink driving after pensioner hit and killed by car in Streetly
A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a pensioner was hit and killed by a car in Streetly.
A pedestrian in his late 70s was hit by a car in Thornhill Road just before 6pm yesterday (August 16).
The emergency services were called to the scene but nothing could be done to save the man.
A 21-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving.
West Midlands Police said today he remains in custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for the force said: "We're working to establish the full circumstances and we're keen to hear from anyone with information about the collision which involved a white Mercedes.
"We're particularly interested in speaking to the driver of a silver Range Rover who may have important information.
"Anyone who hasn't spoken to us already, and has dashcam or CCTV footage which could help us, is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
